I’ve read several good stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how much effort you put to make such a fantastic informative website.

@knnniggett
You seem to be right, I've just tested on 6.3, and it won't allow it.
I'll have to look into it some more, the problem seems to be that the partion no longer resizes along with the container file as before.

I've added a notice to this blog post, that this method does not work for Truecrypt version higher than 6.2.

Unless I'm experiencing an episode of user error (happens from time to time), this method no longer appears to work with newer versions of Truecrypt (e.g. 6.3a).

After expanding the volume file, resize2fs does not acknowledge that there is any additional room to grow.

My bet is that is is perfectly secure... It leaves the volume headers intact, so truecrypt knows to use the same encryption throughout the volume, even after its size is changed.
I'm usung an adapted version of this method to allow my computer to take breaks while creating volumes, as Truecrypt bogs down my CPU and eats RAM. Now I can just make a tiny volume and use dd several times to grow it while I'm not in need of the RAM it gobbles up.

This should work and this seems to be the way to format a truecrypt partition with something else than a fat filesystem.

The move to also is long-time wanted from this end.
OSS is basicly depricated in the linux kernel. AND its getting removed from the kernel in the upcomming versions... in 2.6.22 it has been announced that OSS is getting removed.

Alsa has OSS emulation, but this is what shall we call it a workaround for old applications to function. nice enough. But then we have teamspeak.

TeamSpeak has only OSS support, and does not support some of the writing schemes that alsa supports, like DMIX, dmix allows people with cheap soundcards have the ability to play multiplial streams at the same time, exactly how i do with my Audigy 2.

However my soundcard only supports one recording line, and 32 playbacks. This can be an annoyance in some use when using teamspeak. I cant f.ex phone a friend with skype and use teamspeak the same time... a workaround for this is to set teamspeak to use the 8780:L driver so you can talk on another application for a short period of time. the only drawback is, you cant hear squat on teamspeak in the meanwhile.

Hopefully the Linux version of teamspeak will have the ability to use multiplial soundcards. like 1 for microphone and another for speakers/headphones. (USB microphones anyone ?)

The linux teamspak client at this moment, looks like an old application from the early 95's, it does not blend in with the linux interface at all. Its big, bulky, on some systems it does not support copy/pasting links from teamspeak. And it has a lack of just a clicking link feature.

The options dialogs are also a pain in the butt. 90% of the time, they pop-under the teamspeak window. making it take double the time to do the same thing. Also taking up pressous space in the taskbar.

Minimize to the darn tray (near the clock, where you might also have other applications) ? This we simply don't have. i am always forceing teamspeak to start up on Desktop 3, so i dont need to look at it all the time.

Don't get me wrong, i am greatfull that we have teamspeak for linux, and i wish that ventrilo did the same for their client.
but we do have a large amount of annoyances that can be a pain in the butt.

Damn this rant is long...
Me and Cole go way back, i think it was 2001/2002 on LiquidIRC
he was a services admin and server admin on LiquidIRC.
I spent quite alot of time in #Darkchat, witch was the channel where Cole hanged out. It was also a support channel for a Shell hosting company he was securing the server for.

After founding ZoomIRC along with EnigmA, i wanted to have a more stable server, so i asked Cole (i only knew him as Acer back then) and he told me Linux was the best OS to run for running IRCd's. At this point, i basicly knew nothing about how to compile or anything under linux. I had only used the GUI and startx under redhat (though Corel Linux had autostart on X)

He helped me set it up with the IRCd, and propper formating of the unrealircd.conf file, due to under linux we needed to load the commands.so file aswell. (linux ran ulreal with modules support)

Not long after, Captspank and Cole offered me and dXm a shell account on their server for free. This gave an addition to the *NIX servers we was running on ZoomIRC. Also again he assisted in setting it up, due to we had never setup an IRCd on a multi-homed (multi IP) system.

ZoomIRC split, in half, on to FreeIRC, FreeIRC split in 1/3, i was on the 1/3 part, we had 4 users. Me, SnapShooter, dXm and Loke.

I had lost contact to Cole, due to LiquidIRC had shutdown due to massive DDoS attacks on their network. At that time servers were going down all the time. And their shell providers simply denied them access to IRC. as a note LiquidIRC was a 10.000 Users IRC network. Mainly for Edonkey support (later it became Emule aswell).

One day Cole showed up on our network and applied for a link.
Hes server name was Wizard.TotalIRC.Net.
Cole spent alot of time making TotalIRC better. He also spent time learning danish, so he could also speak danish to us.

Me and Cole spent alot of time in query's (Private Message), talking about life, UNIX, goverment, family. basicly everything.
I remember that Cole could get very carried away when he was writing. It was like hey stop a minnute i am still reading your second "line". while hes on hes 20th line :)

We also spent alot of time on the phone. even hours in long-distant calls. talking about everything. and having a laugh.

All in all, Cole has tought me alot of what i know. i hope you enjoyed your time on TotalIRC, I miss you deeply, and think of you often.
Rest in peace.
